There are many tipsters who bet on football with this type of betting. They are motivated by the fact that they feel it is easier to cover the effort. This is because an outcome of the match ending in a draw becomes more likely when there are three realistic potential outcomes in a sporting event. In other words, you are better covered in relation to the middle outcome when you play with an Asian handicap.
How to play with asian handicap
Below you will get a thorough review of what is meant by Asian handicaps. We go through different scenarios with clubs drawing or losing the match, or winning the match. You can also read about half goals and even quarter goals, which may lead to better odds.
Explanation of Asian handicap full lines
As I said, you can play with Asian handicap in several different ways. For example, let's assume you are betting on a La Liga match between Leganés and FC Barcelona. There are odds for Barca to win at odds of 1.30, there are odds of 5.50 for the match to end in a draw and 9.00 for Leganés to surprise and win. Barcelona is therefore the favorite, and in this hypothetical case you also assume that the team from Catalonia will win.
When you play with asian handicap with a full line, you can boost your odds for Barcelona to win. You can choose to bet on "Barcelona -1" and place a bet at odds of 1.80. In this made-up scenario, you win if Barca manage to win by at least two goals. However, you lose the bet if FC Barcelona loses the match to Leganés or if the match ends in a draw. The main thing is to bet that Barca must win by two goals for you to win the bet, but if they win by a single goal, you will get your stake back.
If you choose to play on "Leganés+2" instead, the focus is on how many goals are scored against them. Here you get your bet back if they lose the match by a maximum of two goals, while you win the bet if they lose the match by a maximum of one goal.
You can also choose to play with Asian handicap with a full line in a more even matchup. Take, for example, El Clásico between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. Here you can reduce the risks of a standard 1X2 bet by choosing to bet on Asian Handicap 0. If you hit the spot with the team you are betting on actually ending up winning the match, you win the bet. You get your money back if the match ends in a draw. This corresponds to having played "draw no bet", which some translate to "no draw" in Danish.
What are asian handicap half lines?
We have reviewed Asian handicaps with a full line, which means e.g. -2, 0, +1 etc. There are also ones with half a line, and you can always distinguish them by the fact that they end in 5. It can be, for example, 0, 5 or 2.5.
When you play on Asian handicap with a half line of e.g. +0.5, it means that the team you are playing for starts the match with an advantage of 0.5 goals. In this case, you win if the team you are playing for either wins the match or if the match ends in a draw. If, on the other hand, they lose the match, you also lose the bet.
If you choose to bet on +1.5, it means that the club you play for starts the match with an advantage of 1.5 goals. Here you win if the team you have chosen to bet your money on either wins the match, if the match ends in a draw, or if they lose by a maximum of a single goal. If, on the other hand, they lose by two goals or maybe even more than that, you lose that bet.
Review of asian handicap quarter lines
Now we have gone through the Asian handicap with a full line and half lines, and it is time for the quarter lines. Perhaps it is the easiest version of the Asian handicap. You can cover your bet with several different outcomes, but not as much as with half lines with Asian handicap. Therefore, odds are typically higher with the quarter lines.
Here you bet on a value that either has 25 or 75 at the end. It can be, for example, +/- 0.25 or +1.75 to give just a few examples. If you choose to bet your money on a bet with an Asian handicap of -0.25, this translates into you betting on a club that starts the match 0.25 goals behind. Here you win the bet if the team you are betting on ends up winning the match. If they lose, it also means that you lose your bet. If the match ends in a draw, you will get half of your bet back.
We can include another example if you play at -0.75. In that scenario, the bet is that a team goes into the match with a 0.75 goal deficit. Here you win the bet if the team you have bet on wins by at least two goals. If they manage to win by a single goal, your bet will be divided into that and you will get half of it back. The other half becomes a winning prize in accordance with the odds you have bet on. In this -0.75 scenario, you lose the bet if the team loses the match or it ends in a draw.
